STOCK EXCHANGES BUYERS RAISE THEIR OFFERS Buyers on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday raised their offers slightly for a number of New Zealand stocks, although the sales recorded showed little change in price. Bank, £4 2s 6d. STOCK SALES LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 23. There were smaller offerings of fat stock at the Lorneville stock sale today. 'Fat wether values were easier, but ewes were slightly firmer. Values for fat cattle showed little change. Good quality medium-weight bullocks made from- £ls to £l6 15s, handy-weights £l3 15s to £l4 10s, light-weights £lO 10s to £l2. Good quality cows sold at from £8 15s to £9 15s, medium £6 15s to £7 ss, unfinished £5 to £5 15s, inferior £3 to £4 ss. Good quality medium-weight heifers made from £lO 5s to £ll 10s, light-weights £8 5s to £9 ss, and small £6 10s to £7 10s. Extra good fat lambs realised up to 345, prime quality 28s to 31s, good quality freezing weights 24s 6d to 25s 6d, light-weights 20s 6d to 225. Freezing buyers were operating for freezing ewes at from 12s to 13s 9d, and butchers secured their requirements at from 14s to 15s 6d. Good quality mediumweight wethers realised from 27s 6d to 29s 6d, and light-weights from 24s to 25s 9d. RANGIORA The yardings were smaller than usual at the weekly stock market field at Rangiora yesterday. The range of prices was as follows; Sheep: Fat ewes, 12s 6d to 13s Id; forward lambs, 19s to 20s 7d; store lambs, 13s to 16s; sound-mouth ewes, 10s Gd to 12s; two-tooth wethers, 275. Cattle: Heifers In profit, £lO 15s; fat cows, £6 15s; calves, 50s to £3. Pigs; Porkers, 55s to 70s; weaners, 255. TINWALD Prices at the Tinwald stock sale yesterday were firmer, the yarding being smaller than last week. Prices for lambs ranged from 18s 9d to 30s, and ewes made from 10s to 15s lOd. Only two pens of wethers were offered, these bringing 24s lOd to 27s 4d.
MINING Austral-New Zealand Company.—The Austral-New Zealand Mining Company report from Cromwell for four weeks ended February 20 is; 491 hours worked. 942 ounces recovered.
