MEAT SHORTAGE IN SAN FRANCISCO
(Rec. 10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Jan. 9. It is reported from San Francisco that meat was supplied 75 per cent, below normal and queues of housewives waited hours outside butchers’ shops before they opened at noon without any guarantee that any meat was available. y Steel Plate Production. —The United States War Production Board announced that in 1943 steel plate production would bo 11,810,000 net tons, approximately double, the 1941 production—Washington, January 9.
