Members of the Board of Governors of the Christchurch Technical College stood in silence to the memory of a former colleague, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, late Minister of Health, at last evening’s meeting. Mr Armstrong had represented the City Council on the board in 1918-19, and the Government from 1922 to 1925.
Lieutenartt-Colonel K. J, Walker, Assistant Adjutant-General. Southcin Military District, is at present a patient in Lewisham Hospital. He has undergone an operation and his condition is quite satisfactory.
The Fryer Memorial Prize for the best non-commissioned officer among the various secondary schools of Christchurch has been awarded to John Deyell, of the Technical College cadets at the Papanui school. Mr V. Raines, Transport Licensing Authority for the South Island, returned to Dunedin last evening. Mr A. J. R. Warren has been appointed head of the woodworking and building trades department of the Christchurch Technical College.
