WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

BRVNDVVB At the home of Mrs W. Pattison, Clyde road, members of Pie Brnydwr Women's Institute held their second birthday party. Mrs H. S. J. Goodman presided over a good attendance of members and friends, and welcomed Mrs M. Morten, president of the Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes, who addressed the meeting.

Children's garments, made by members from material given by Mrs Rudkin, were on display. These will be sent to the Dr. Bernardo's homes and to dependants of soldiers.

The birthday cake was made by Mrs Lamble, and afternoon tea was served by the committee. Items were given by Miss Milllcent Jennings and Mrs Claude Davies (songs), and Mrs Collins (humorous recitations). Klrwee.—Mrs Turner presided at the November meeting of the Kirwee Women’s Institute, and Miss Sylvia Pascoe gave a demonstration on hair pin work. Knitted garments were handed in and more wool was given to members. Competitions were held for the best sultana and nut loaf, printed prsgramme, and small and large blooms.
