TRANSPORT LICENCE APPLICATIONS

TWO OBJECTIONS HEARD

Mainly formal matters were dealt with at a sitting of the No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr V. Raines) yesterday. An objection to* an application by Burnetts Motors for the transfer of a goods service licence from J. Walls, Tinwald, was lodged by Mid-Canterbury Transport, chiefly on the ground that the licence had in effect been an ancillary user's, whereas in future it would be used .hy the company more for general goods cartage in competition with other licence-holders. The transfer was granted. An objection was also lodged by East Coast (Kaikoura) Freight Services, Ltd,, against an application by the Kaikoura Transport Company, Ltd., for an amendment to a goods service licence to provide for an extension enabling the company, to travel to the Clarence Bridge railway station. The application was refused.
