DOCTORS IN NORTH CANTERBURY
RANGIORA AND KAIAPOI , MEDICAL SERVICES
An improvement in the medical services at Rangiora and Kaiapoi as a result of the efforts of the Canterbury Progress League was reported by the secretary (Mr P. R. Climie) at a meeting of the league last evening. He said that Dr. L. M. King, of Rangiora, who had been called up for military duties, had been released to resume private practice, and as a result the town now had two doctors. Mr Climie said that the position at Kaiapoi was not as good as it might be. There was one doctor in practice there, but according to advice he had received there was a distinct case for two doctors. Arrangements had been made, however, for the doctor there, Dr. C. P. S. Riddell, not to be used for medical boarding work. Mr Climie quoted a copy of a letter from the Director-General of Health (Dr. M. H. Watt) to the North Canterbury Hospital Board in which it was stated that it was unlikely another doctor would become available for Kaiapoi until after the war.
