NEW DANCE HALL IN CITY

Permission to use its building in Kilmore street as a dance hall was granted to De Luxe Skating Rink, Ltd., by the City Council on Monday evening. The Chief City Inspector (Mr J. W. Huggins) reported that although the area immediately round the De Luxe Skating Rink was zoned for town planning as "light industrial” there are several residences nearby. There was one immediately adjoining the rink on the west side and the occupier had complained on many occasions of noise, queues, and bicycles from the rink. On the opposite side of the road there were several residences, but there had been no complaints from any of these regarding the conduct of the skating rink.
