TAXIDRIVER STRUCK ON HEAD

Detectives are making inquiries about two young men reported to have struck a taxidriver on the head and made off without paying the fare. According to a report yesterday, the driver, Mr E. S. English, was approached by two men on Monday about 11.30 p.m. who asked to be driven to a house in Cashmere road. When the driver reached a house in the locality and asked if it were the right one, one of the men stated that it was, and the driver started to slow down. The next moment he was struck on the back of the head and dazed. He reported the incident to the detectives on returning to the city.
