MANPOWER
Sir,—l was interested to read the report of the R.S.A. conference recently held in Christchurch, and I would like to congratulate these men on their courage in drawing attention to the racket that is going on in this country with regard to manpower. Thousands of fit, single men are being manpowered out of camp, and their places in the overseas draft are being taken by married men who have three and four children. Although some of these fit, single men haven't the internal fortitude to go overseas, they are not lacking in assurance.T heard of a case in which one of these gentlemen, manpowered out of camp, had the audacity to get up and farewell men who were going, some of them married with children. How long are the people of this country going to allow this state of affairs to continue? —Yours, etc,. SOLDIER’S DAUGHTER. December 1, 1942.
