ADHERENCE TO FIGHTING FRANCE (8.0. W.) RUGBY. Nov. 30. 'Die French National Committee m London has announced (hat the French island of Reunion has joined Fighting France. No lives were lost during the operation. Patriotic demonstrations on the quays welcomed the arrival at St. Denis on Saturday of the Fighting French destroyer Leopard. The only resistance was brief and it came from a coastal battery. The Governor (M. Aubert) withdrew to the interior of the island with a small party, but after a conversation with ute commander of the Fighting French ho ended all hostilities. The

population, civil servants, and local garrisons in the various towns, spontaneously rallied to General de Gaulle. M, Capagorry has been entrusted with the administration of the island. No loreign troops took part in the operation. The Vichy radio to-day announced resistance on Reunion Island had ended after an ultimatum from the Fighting French commander to the Governor, who accepted on condition that he would be regarded as a prisoner, but that French officials would be allowed to leave the island with their families if they wished.
