AFTER THE WAR

—- VOCATIONAL' TRAINING OF ARMY RECRUITS RAISING OF SCHOOL AGE .. In the opinion of the Christchurch executive of the Returned Services’ Association, young men and women now in the Army should have the best educational course that can be provided for them without undue interference with their military training. It was urged at a meeting of .the executive on Monday evening that steps should be taken to appoint a sufficient number of vocational and educational officers to carry out this work. Wherever possible, it was stated, the work should be supplemented by the use of facilities of university and technical colleges adjacent to the service training centres. It was reported that the resolutions published in “The Press" on October 17. had been approved after consideration by the following bodies;—Christchurch executive of Returned Services’ Association, North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee, representatives of the various Apprenticeship Committees in Christchurch, Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, Employers’ Association, Manufacturers’ Association, the Technical College, secondary schools, the Territorial Association, the Youth Centre, and the Southern Military District.
