ARMY OFFICER PLEADS GUILTY

UNNATURAL OFFENCES AGAINST MALES (P.A.) AUCKLAND, November 30. A New Zealand Army officer, Captain D. P. Melville, aged 34, appeared before a general court-martial on a number of charges of unnatural offences against males. It was alleged that the offences were committed while the accused was on duty at a south Pacific island, and that they were against natives. Some of the charges were withdrawn, and the accused pleaded guilty to the remainder. Colonel C.' N. Newman. D.5.0., presided over the court-martial. Sentence of the Court will be promulgated after it has been confirmed by the convening officer.
