MAGISTRATE’S COURT

—*— SATURDAY (Before Mr W. C. Harley, S.M.) SOLDIER SENT TO PRISON Ernest Williamson, a soldier, aged 19, was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment for stealing the sum of 30s, the property of Edward Rae. Detective-Ser-geant A. A. Herron said that Williamson stole the money from the wallet of a soldier who was in camp with him, and had used it to hire a rental car. When the Magistrate asked "What’s the matter?” Williamson said, “We don’t get leave.” A military officer said that the accused was an unreliable and inefficient soldier with a bad list of crimes. He had been sentenced to detention previously, and a serious view was taken of this particular offence.
