CRICKET FIXTURES
YOUNG PLAYERS TO BE ENCOURAGED A plea for the encouragement of junior cricket was made by Mr W. A. Hadlee, at last evening’s meeting in Christchurch, of the Canterbury Cricket Association. "Junior cricket is even more important than senior cricket this season,” he said. “It is to boys now at school that we must look for our players in the future.” Mr Hadlee suggested that the association should communicate with either Otago or Wellington and tryto arrange a Brabin Shield standard match.
“If Otago is willing” replied the chairman (Mr R. H. North), “we could go ahead with arrangements. This will be only tentative, of course." It was resolved that the Otago Association be communicated with, and, if possible, a match arranged for Brabin Shield players at Dunedin at Christmas time. It was decided that a representative game between Canterbury and Otago should be played at Christchurch on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. A return match by Canterbury, extending over two days, will be played at Dunedin at New Year time.
