DISAPPOINTMENT REPORTED
* BORING AT CLARENDON PHOSPHATE DEPOSITS “They are terribly disappointed with the result of boring. The overburden is terrific and it looks as though the scheme will peter out.” Stating that he had been in contact with the expert in charge of investigations at Clarendon, Mr A. C. Cameron, chairman of the Otago Primary Production Council, gave this reply at the meeting- of the South Canterbury executive of the Farmers’ Union to a request for particulars of the phosphate deposits recently reported at Clarendon. The meeting also discussed at some length various kinds of fertiliser available to farmers, and decided to ask the Department of Agriculture and fertiliser companies for information about trials of reverted super mixed with serpentine.
