TUESDAY (Before Mr F. P; Reid. S.M.) CAST OFFENSIVE MATTER John Kerins, a labourer, aged 43, on a charge of casting offensive matter in a public place, was convicted anti ordered to pay costs. For drunkenness, he was fined 20s with costs, in default 40 hours' imprisonment. REMANDED Ronald Joseph Noble, a motor-driver, aged 28 (Mr C. H. Holmes), on a charge of the theft on November 15 of a case of whisky and eight bottles of ale, of a total value of £lO 18s 6d, the property ol the Midland Club, was remanded to November 23, Bail at £25. with one surety of £25. was allowed. TRAFFIC CASES Exceeding speed limit, for heavy traffic.—Leonard Davenport, £5 (no warrant, 10s). Cycling at night without light. Rex Gilchrist, ss; William Howden, 10s.' CIVIL CASES (Before, Mr W. C. Harley. S.M.) Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default In each of the following cases: Canadian Corporation, Ltd. v. I. C. Goodfellow, return of chattel; W. H. Arbuckle v. Henry Davis, £ll Is; Janet Margaret Macfarlane, Robert Huntly Mitchell, -and Russell dc Rcnzy Mitchell v. Agnes Madeline Meikle, £2B 10s; Automobile Association, Canterbury v. Mabel Alice West. £3 18s; W. E. Shaw v. D. S. Thompson, £7 10s. ORDERS FOR POSSESSION. L. W. McNeill was ordered to give possession to Frank Leonard Jennings and Alice Crutchley, trustees of the estate of Alice Jennings, Donald Gray, and Grace Gray, before December 16, no warrant to issue unless default of current rent payments is made. Cyril Brown was ordered to give possession to A. A. D. Chambers forthwith m warrant to issue so long as he pays current rent and 5s a week off arrears. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES On judgment summonses the following orders were made:— A. E. Grubb was ordered to pay J, Ballantyne and Company, Ltd., ,£2O l!!s forthwith, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended so long as he pays 5s a week. Grubb was also ordered to pay Lloyd Knox £SB 19s forthwith, in default 30 days’ imprisonment, warrant to be suspended on payment of 10s weekly. Leslie George Smith was ordered to pay H. T. Saunders £4 forthwith, in default fodr days' imprisonment. DEFENDED CASES Charles Arnold Campion, of Methven, fanner (Mr A. W. Brown), claimed from James Butler, of Christchurch, millownor (Dr. A. L. Haslam), the sum of £l5O damages for alleged failure to comply with an agreement to clear a properly. Decision was reserved. (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) F. H. Dodge, builder, of Christchurch (Mr H. M. S. Dawson), claimed from Miss A. Hollow, of Christchurch (Mr R. N. C. Hill), £s' 16s 9d for work done and materials supplied. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs.
