STOCK EXCHANGES LOCAL MARKET QUIET Bank of New Zealand maintained their advance on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, with two sal 6-* being recorded, closing with buyers 39s 9d. sellers 40s. New Zealand Breweries showed a weakening of sixpence to nlnepence upon a sale of an odd parcel, closing with buyers 335, sellers 33s 9d. Kalapol Woollens (now ex div.) were slightly easier, with buyers 18s 9d, sellers 19s 3d, while the contributing 7s shares were offered at 7s. Colonial Sugars dropped £1 from previous business, with buyers at £49 and no declared seller. Donaghy s Rope had strong offers at 49s 9d, without gaining response. Electrolytic Zinc ordinary had buyers at 44s 6d, and preferential issue, buyers at 475. Woolworths, Ltd., were Inactive and were quoted, ex dividend at buyers 15s 7d, sellers, 15s 9d. Huddart Parkers were firm with buyers 44s 3d, no sellers. P. and O. buyers were also wanted at 355. STOCK SALES TINWALD Bidding was spirited for prime fat sheep at the fortnightly stock sale at Tlnwald yesterday, and although prices were unchanged at the start, they advanced slightly as the sale progressed. The bulk of the entry consisted of ewes, and there was a keen demand for extra prime quality. The top price in this section was 40s 7d for a pen of four sold on account of R. D, Cochrane, Elgin, the average price for 12 being 38s 6d a head. Prime ewes brought from 25s to 34s 7d, and medium qualities from 17s lod to 24s lOd. Seven shorn ewes sold at 18s lOd to 19s Id. The entry of fat wethers was small, the range of prices being from 37s 7d to 44s Id, the latter being received by J. Robertson (Winchmore) for a pen of tour. Spring lambs were forward in larger numbers, and prices ranged from 29s lOd to 36s lOd. this being the highest price recorded so far this reason. Two steers, sold in the cattle section for J. H. Papworth (Willowby) brought £ls 2s 6d, and a fat cow, entered by L. F. Hill (Lynnford) sold tor £l4 2s 6d. PLEASANT POINT (P.S.S.) TIMARU, Sept. 29. The entry of fat cattle at the Pleasant Point sale was larger than at the previous sale, and the quality generally was good. Values were fully firm at the commencement, and during the latter part of the sale there was a definite hardening. Prime steers made from £l6 7s fld to £l9 7s 6d, light to medium £lO 7s 6d to £l4 17s 6d; prime heifers, £l2 12s 6d to £ls 7s 6d, light to medium £9 12s 6d to £ll 17s fld; prime cows, £l2 to £l3 17s 6d, light to medium £7 2s 6d to £ll 12s 6d. In the fat sheep section, the yarding comprised mostly ewes of good quality only, an odd pen of wethers being forward. Values were firmer by Is a head. Prime wethers made from 40s to 45s 4d, light to medium 30s to 36s lOd: prime ewes, 33s to 37s 4d, light to medium 25s to 325. Prime quality shorn ewes made from 29s 7d to 32s 7d. Store sheep values showed little variation on recent sales. Good Romney ew'e hoggets made 30s, medium 24s 3d to 27s 3d; ewes with lambs at foot, ,10s5d to 13s 7d; shorn wether hoggets, 16s 6d. RANGIORA There were small entries in all classes at the weekly stock market at Rangiora yesterday, Values ranged as follows; Sheep—Ewes and lambs (all counted), 11s 6d to 14s fid. Cattle—Dry cows, £5 to £7 ss; yearlings, £2 10s to £3 10s. Pigs—Baconers, £3 19s fid to £4 Bs fid; porkers, 48s to 68s Gd; slips, S2s to 365; weaners, 28s to 30s. LORNEVILLE (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Sept. 29. There was a full yarding in the fat sheep section at the Lornevllle sale to-day. Values for wethers were much the same as last week, while those for ewes were, on a general average, about 4s to 4s fid a head lower. Prime quality wethers brought 43s 6d to 45s 6d good quality 41s to 425, medium 30s to 39s 3d, light-weights 35s Gd to 375, inferior 31s to 32s fld; prime maiden ewes 39s 6d to 41s 6d, prime quality 37s fid to 395, good quality 36s to 37s 3d, medium quality 35s 6d to 36s 6d, unfinished 29s to 31s, and Inferior 24s to 275. The fat cattle yarding was the smallest for three weeks. Values for good quality cows and heifers remained firm. Bullocks were probably a little easier. Medium, unfinished, and aged cows were probably £1 a head cheaper. Prime quality bullocks sold at up -o„£20 ss, gopd quality medium-weights £l# 10s to £l7, light-weights £l3 to £l4 10s, and unfinished £lO 10s to £l2. Extra good cows sold at up to £ls 10s, prime quality £l2 15s to £l4, medium £8 15s to £lO. inferior £6 to £7 10s, good quality medium-weight heifers £l3 5s to £l4 10s, handy-weights £ll 15s to £l2 10s, light-weights £9 10s to £lO 15s, and small £8 5s to £9 10s.

DUNEDIN RABBITSKIN SALE (P.S.S.) DUNEDIN,-September 29. At to-day's rabbitskin sale about 70 tons was offered. There was a restricted demand, and with odd exceptions values, as compared with previous sales rates, can be quoted generally at 12d to 24d per lb lower, because of* a falling-off in quality. MINING Moonlight Goldfields Co., Ltd—The wash-up at the company's claim on September 28 was 27ioz for 185 hours' sluicing.
