The Hon. S. G. Holland (Minister of War Expenditure) has cancelled his visit to Dunedin on Monday to attend the annual meeting of the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association, and will remain in Wellington over the weekend. Lieutenant-Colonel K. N. Todd, assistant director of supply and transport, Southern Military District, and Lieutenant D. R. Macdougall, district supply officer, are visiting the Dunedin fortress area.
Mr P. J. Byrne has been appointed secretary of the North Canterbury Racing Club in succession to Mr L. W. Harley, who recently retired after a long period of service. Pilot Officer B. T. Connell, R.N.Z.A.F,. of Christchurch, has been promoted to the rank of flying officer.
Mr Charles Bell was elected president of the North Canterbury Wholesale and Retail Cycle Traders’ Association at the association’s meeting on Thursday evening. Mr C. F. Bennett was elected vice-president, and Messrs E. C. Price. E. J. Casbolt, R. H. Parker, and J. H. Wear were elected members ot the executive.
