RUGBY FOOTBALL
COACHES’ ASSOCIATION FORMED A Canterbury Rugby Football Union Coaches’ Association was formed last evening at a well-attended meeting presided over by Mr E. V. Phillips, president of the Canterbury Rugby Football Union. The objects of the association, said Mr Phillips, were to secure the services of competent coaches and assist the union in furthering the interests of Rugby football by coaching on a system that would ensure bright, open play, to inculcate the true Rugby sportsmanship by maintaining good conduct on the held, and to encourage the exchange of views among coaches by holding lectures at various Uroes. „ , , .. The following officers were elected.— President, Flight Lieutenant D. G. Mackay; vice-president, Mr L. G. Lovendge; secretary, Mr L. M, West; executive. Messrs Grenfell (Southern), Scrimshaw (Christchurch), Rhodes (Merivale), Vincent (Technical), and Frame (Athletic). A talk on football in Christchurch during the last season was given by Flight Lieutenant Mackay.
