GIFTS OF PETROL COUPONS
ILLEGALITY DENIED “Attention has been called to the report of a warning issued by SeniorDetective H, Nuttall in a prosecution last week under the Oil Fuel Regulations that the gift of petrol coupons was a breach of the* regulations,” said the secretary of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trades Association (Mr L. C. Kernahan) in a statement to “The Press" yesterday. “In a recent judgment of the stipendiary magistrate at Palmerston North," Mr Kernahan said, “this point was de? finitely clarified when it was held that while petrol obtained with coupons could not be given away or transferred, the coupons themselves could be given away. According to this decision, members of the motoring public are at liberty to make gifts of coupons without infringement of the regulations.” v
