AVON CLUB W. J. Bowden, by gaining fastest time, won the 50 mile championship of the Avon Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday. The course was from the Methodist Orphanage, Harewood road, to Klrwee and return. Twenty-five riders took part. The first man home was K. Rutledge, off the 20min mark. D. Fitzgerald rode a good race off the limit and was not caught by the following bunch until they reached Yaldhurst .on the home journey. Results were:— K. Rutledge* (20min), 2hr 27min lOsec, 1; A. R. Green (12min), 2hr 19min 10 l-ssec, 2; O. K. Wilson (12min), 2hr 19min 10 2-ssec. 3; L. Green (12min), 2hr 19min Usee, 4; D. Fitzgerald (29min), 2hr 36mln 12sec, 5: W. J. Bowden (scr), 2hr 9mln 43sec, 6; L. Crossen (scr), 2hr 9min 43 1- 7; B. Clark (scr), 2hr 9min 43 2- 8; C. Percasky (9min), 2hr 15min 46sec, 9; R. Harris (3imin), 2hr 13min 7sec, 10. TECHNICAL CLUB, E, A. McKaskell won the Technical Amateur Cycling Club’s senior 50-mile championship road race held at Papanui on Saturday by 2-ssec from J. J. Guthrie in a strong finish. The race was run under mass start conditions, and; on the run out the riders remained in a bunch, but a strong easterly wind on the home journey, broke up the field. McKaskell and Guthrie-4efj the field 18 miles from home ..and had the finish to themselves. . Theyq gained, 23 minutes on the third-placed, rider. The junior championshipwas won by G. Lyell. who, only 14, w.as the youngest rider. A sealed handicap held in conjunction with the championship was won by Guthrie. Results were:—E. A. McKaskell (2hr 14min 56sec) 1, J. J.
