THE PENNY BAR
Sir,—ln common with many others, I feel highly indignant that our children are being so badly treated as regards their penny chocolate sticks, which, I may add, are thinner than they used to be. Threepenny blocks are now 3Jd. and sixpenny blocks are 7d. Yet all penny sticks are lid. On the same basis our children should receive three penny sticks for 3sd and.six sticks for 7d. Let the authorities concerned keep faith with our children by having this injustice rectified immediately.— Yours, etc., MIKE. 'September 16, 1942. [The price for the “penny bar” was increased to IJd by Price Order 91 when the retail price of other lines was increased at the end of June, it was stated when this letter was referred to two leading wholesale firms. The size and quality of the bars had not been changed.]
