HOUSEHOLD LINEN

Sir,—l wish to protest strongly against a system which compels the woman with a family to choose whether she and her children should sleep without sheets, etc., or dispense with ‘ necessary clothing. I have no fault to find with the rationing scheme as a whole, but the Minister in charge must have known, when the coupon system came into force, that women with families, who unfortunately cannot afford to have a surplus stock of household linen, would be ihe greatest sufferers. Why should they have to give up their clothing coupons to buy towels, sheets, etc.? I suggest that this injustice be immediately altered by issuing a special page marked for household linen alone.—Yours, etc., HOUSEWIFE. September 16, 1942.
