Social at Ouruhia.—The Ouruhia and Combined Districts Patriotic Committee entertained Troopers E. Chenery, S. Herbert, and A. Welsh. Gunners P. Samson and R. Pengelly, and Signalman J. Teague at a gathering held in the Ouruhia School. Mr H. W. Hams, who presided, presented each guest of honour with a leather hold-all, Mr H. A. Dawber, for the Ouruhia School Committee, and Mr A. E. Clarke, representing the Belfast Returned Services’ Association, also spoke. Tai Tapu Red Cross.—To provide funds for the local emergency hospital, a concert organised by the Red Cross sub-centre was held in the Tai Tapu Hall. Sir R. Heaton Rhodes presided. Private C. Chatterton. L. Wills, and F. Woods were the guests of honour. Mr W. G. Macartney presented them with gifts from the residents. A substantial sum was raised by this effort.
