LEAGUE FOR THE HARD OF HEARING

On Tuesday afternoon an address was given to members of the League for the TT ard >of Hearing bv Miss M. A. Blackmore. The group hearing aid. which now carries 30 headphones, was used. After dealing with the food values of different vegetables, the speaker gave useful hints for securing a continuous supply of fresh vegeables from small gardens. She then dealt with the preparation, cooking, and serving of such foods, and offered many suggestions for ensuring a varied menu of attractive and appetising vegetable dishes. The talk was well illustrated with fresh and cooked vegetables and fruits, as well as vegetable drinks. The dicussion which followed and the number of questions asked showed the interest, of the audience. Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs presented a number of copies of Miss Blackmore’s book, “How to Cook Vegetables,” a gift which was nuch appreciated. The receipts from the sale of these will help the league funds, Various food preparations °iven by Miss Blackmore were quickly disposed of, also for the benefit of the league.
