Next Saturday's draw brings Canterbury Regiment, the leading team, against Atr Force A, which is one point behind. The under 16 grade competition was declared closed, with High School Old Boys the winners and New Brighton the runner-up. The position of leading teams in the uncompleted lower grades was reported as follows: Second Grade.—Tigers 14, Kaiapoi 131, Base Depot 12. Members cf the management committee stated that they would have to concentrate on the younger players next season because the older ones were going into the forces. The general opinion cf the meeting was that weight should be taken into account in grading teams, because the presence of big boys in the same grade discouraged' smaller boys, who dropped out of the game. It was emphasised that the benefits of having a strong committee to watch the -interests of boys would be lost if it did not have the backing of the management committee. The following were appointed to the Junior committee: Messrs K. Johnston, E. Hall. G! Smith. H. Ramage, E. Blltcliff, H. W. Beaumont. L. Goldsmith, and the Rev. Father J. A. McCarthy.
