FISHING SEASON

* CANTERBURY LAKES AND RIVERS Efforts made by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society to obtain the Marine Department’s approval 0* a proposal to extend the 1942-1943 fishing season in order to include the Easter holidays, have not been successful. In consequence, the season for Lake Ellesmere and all rivers will be from October 1, 1942, to April 15, 1943. A report on these lines was pre* sented by the fish committee at a meet, ing of the council of the society last evening. It was stated also that the season for Lakes Coleridge, Sheppard, Taylor. Katrine, and Sumner wbuld be from October 1 to April 30, and for all other back country lakes from Decern- ■ ber 1 to April 30. The season for quinv nat salmon for rivers only would from October 1 to May 15.
