NATIONAL SAVINGS

"SPRING OFFENSIVE" CAMPAIGN Christchurch now holds first place in the list of postal districts taking part in the "spring offensive" campaign to increase the regularity of deposits to national savings accounts. In announcing the results for the second week of the campaign, the chairman of the New Zealand National Savings Committee (Mr T. N. Smallwood) said that there had been some interesting changes in the positions of the various postal districts. In the first week the Wellington district led with 22.2 per cent, of accounts used, closely fallowed by Napier, with 20.4 per cent. Last week these two districts had to give pride of place to Christchurch. which had come from the thirteenth place to first place; and to Auckland, which had come from eighth place to second. The Auckland postal district still holds the record for accounts opened for the week, with 302 out of the 819 new accounts.
