U.S. MARINE CORPS’ BAND
VISIT TO WANGANUI (P.A.) WANGANUI. September 14. The United States Marine Corps’ band visited Wanganui during the week-end and was given a warm welcome. The town fairly let itself go. Twelve hundred persons were present at a dance in a wool store on Saturday night, and a big crowd in Cook’s Gardens heard a performance by the band on Sunday afternoon. For the Sunday night concert hundreds were turned away. The Americans created a fine , impression with their easy friendliness, and were given an enthusiastic farewell on the railway station to-day. As a result of their visit more than £3OO was raised for patriotic funds.
