EARLY MORNING ALARM
RANGIORA RESIDENTS SURPRISED Rangiora residents were taken completely by surprise when the first early morning air raid alarm was sounded at 5.30 yesterday. There had been no indication previously when the trial would be held, but within 10 minutes of the sounding of the alarm the majority of members of all sections of the E.P.S. were at their posts. The “all clear" was sounded at 6.5 a.m., but some members had returned before their duty was completed. The chairman of the Rangiora E.P.S. (Mr C. W. Tyler) expressed satisfaction with the results of the trial. “If we had an actual air raid it would most likely occur during the night. ’ said Mr Tyler.
