RUBBER SHORTAGE
Sir,—With reference to the rubber shortage, I have just a few remarks to make. To-day it is a current fact that with the passing of every month a few more cars have left the road for the duration. The question I would like to ask is: what steps have.been taken to secure these demobilised tyres and thus bolster the present shortage? It appears that the Government is permitting hundreds of tyres to rot in back lots, in sheds, and in garages instead of legally taking these tyres and giving sufficient to recompense their loss. If a committee recruited from among the labouring class was formed, I am certain that this state of affairs would not be permitted to exist.---Yours.'etc., SCORPIO. September 10, 1942.
