SCHOOL DENTAL SERVICE

— PROGRESS OF WORK REVIEWED (P.A.) WELLINGTON. September 10. It is officially stated that the school dental service has now in operation 376 centres throughout the Dominion. Nearly 127,000 children receive regular and systematic care in six-monthly periods. There has been a further drop in the ratio of extractions to fillings, the figure now being 10.7 extractions to every 100 fillings, against 17.5 in 1935. , The Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) emphasises the national importance of the service. It is essential, he said, and the flow of student dental nurses should be maintained to cope with the rapid expansion of clinic work. It is a humanitarian work that should appeal strongly to young women of high ideals.
