VICEREGAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 10. To-day at Government House, the Governor-General (Sir Cyril Newall) presented Silver Wolf decorations to Mr H. Christie. Dominion Chief Commissioner: Miss Nancy Wilson, Dominion Commissioner of Wolf Cubs: and Mr J. R. H. Cooksey. Dominion Commissioner of Training, of the Boy Scouts’ Association. This afternoon Lady Newall was present at an exhibition of films depicting the war work of women in Britain, arranged bv the Lady Galway Patriotic Guild. An engraved gold key was presented to the Minister of Education (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) at a complimentary dinner held at Westport by members of local bodies, the legal profession, and the Military Department. The key, presented by the chairman of the Duller County Council from-the new coun • try schools, commemorated the building of. the schools and the Minister’s visit to the district. After he had performed the official opening ceremony at the Westport North School, Mr Mason was presented with a paper weight mounted on paua shell and suitably inscribed. Mr A.-'M. Hollander has been appointed to the E.P.S. Fire Unit Committee in place of Mr J. D. Carey, who has resigned. Mr T. H. Langford, South Island zoning officer, left yesterday for the West Coast on zoning business. On Monday he will leave for Dunedin and Invercargill on similar business. •Mr J. J. B. Connor, district officer of the Transport Department, will leave to-day for the south on transport control committee business. The resignation of the Geraldine Town Clerk (Mr A. L. Cameron) was accepted with regret at a meeting of the Geraldine Borough Council. Mr Cameron said that he had accepted a permanent position as town clerk at Balclutha.
