LYTTELTON NEWS
$ DELIVERIES CURTAILED In future Lyttelton grocers will deliver to the outer parts of the town once a fortnight. For some months the grocers have been delivering once a week instead of twice a week, and the further curtailment to once a fortnight has been made to save petrol and tyres. Butchers have reduced their deliveries to once a week. Zoning was introduced by the Lyttelton milk retailers this week, but as milk deliveries were zoned to a certain extent previously, the number of consumers affected is not great.
The question of relaxing the restrictions against taking whitebait from the Grey river on the Cobden sicie below the Cobden bridge is to be considered by the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Marine, who will discuss the matter with the Departments of Marine and Health. After receiving deputations from Cobden and Blaketown, Mr Semple said he would go into the matter “from A to Z.” The Marine Department. he said, could not act without consulting the Health Department.
