Another Attractive Card The Canterbury Jockey Club has received another excellent list of acceptances for Grand National Hurdle Race Day at Riccarton on Saturday. There were not any defections from the Grand National Hurdles, but several were taken out of the Lincoln Steeplechase, including Foxiana, Master Lackham, Surcoat. Aussie Ra, Master Dingle, Valens, Night Hawk, Night Scout, and Sir Hugh, who are engaged in other races on the card. Happy Ending was in both the Islington and August Handicaps, but has been withdrawn from both. Sally Lunn and Gladvnev had the same engagements. The former is an acceptor in the August Handicap, and Gladynev In the longer race. There are 34 acceptors for the Woolston Handicap, and as the safety number is 32, two divisions will have to be arranged for. A Quiet Morning The No. 1 grass track at Riccarton was open yesterday for horses booked to race next Saturday, but although a large number of horses worked on it, there was very little galloping of interest. Included in the list was Sally Lunn. who covered six furlongs in Imin. 20sec. Pekoe and Kanui te Pai were given some strong work over a circuit. The former struck out freely, and there did not seem to be much sign of lameness, from which he sometimes suffers. This pair will be schooled over six hurdles this morning in company with Foxiana, who was also given useful work over a round. Erndale (M. Caddy) jumped four hurdles at a sound pace, and cleared each fence faultlessly. Anglo-French (A, Leach) and Benevolent lA. Sagar) were companions over eight of the Inside schooling steeplechase fefice.s. Both did well, and the latter did not ,-how any inclination to run off. Stabilise indicated that the race he had hast Saturday had benefited him by beating Minority and Red Dash over half a mile, and Warrigal also showed improvement by finishing in front of Nightglass over five furlongs. Both these horses should race well next Saturday. Final Gallops The course proper will be open for galloping and schooling to-morrow morning. Unfortunate Ailment Except, for one bad jump, early in the race. Strip gave a much improved display last Saturday, suggesting that the patient policy in developing him as a hurdle*, would soon have the right result, but unfortunately he had a recurrence oi bleedmg when working yesterday. This was the first attack lie has had for more than 12 months,
