APPOINTMENTS AND PROMOTIONS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 2. The following promotions and appointments of officers of the New Zealand military forces were gazetted last night:—

Lieutenant-Colonel (Temp.) E. Elliott, New Zealand Artillery, is appointed to command the Anti-Aircraft Regiment.

Promotions and appointments in the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force are;—

New Zealand Armoured Corps: Major (Temporary LieutenantColonel) R. L. McGaffln to be lieuten-ant-colonel; Major T. C. Wallace to be lieutenant-colonel (temp.). New Zealand Medical Corps: Major K. B. Bridge to be lieutenant-colonel (temp.) while holding the appointment of administrative and liaison officer on a hospital ship. Commands and Staff: LieutenantColonel J. N. Peart, Northern Infantry, relinquishes command of a battalion and is appointed to command an advanced base; Lieutenant-Colonel J. R. Gray, Northern Infantry, is appointed to command a battalion; Major H. W. D. Blake, New Zealand Artillery, is appointed to command an artillery training depot; Major G. J. O. Stewart. New Zealand Artillery, is appointed second in command of a field regiment. New Zealand Infantry: Major J. M. A. Samson, Southern Infantry, to be lieirenant-colonel (temp.): Major W. H. Alexander. Northern Infantry, to be lieutenant-colonel (temp.). Commands and Staff: LieutenantColonel C. A. L. Treadwell, Central Infantry, relinquishes the appointment of deputy Judge-Advocate General; Lieutenant-Colonel G. J. McNaught, Central Infantry, is appointed general staff officer, first grade, at Headquarters, Maadi Camp; Major G. P. Sanders. Northern Infantry, is appointed second in command of a battalion: Major H. G. McQuade. Southern Infantry, is appointed second in command of a battalion.

New Zealand Infantry: Major C. N. Watson, Northern Infantry, to be lieu-tenant-colonel (temp.) while employed as senior infantry -training mander; Captain I. Hart. Central Infantry. to be major (tomo.) while commanding an infantry training depot. Commands • and Staff: LieutenantColonel C. D. A. George, Central Infantry, is appointed-to command a battalion; Maior L. B. BMlantyne. New Zealand Divisional Cavalry, is appointed second in command of a composite training depot; Major S. J Hedge, Northern Infantry, is annointed to command an infantry training depot.
