* LARGE INCREASE IN OUTPUT (Received March 15, 7.30 p.m.) LONDON, March 13. The United States Maritime Commission has enlarged the 1942-43 ship construction programme from 18,000 to 20.000 tons, calling for nearly 2000 ships. A commissioner said the American production of’ ships would be greater than that of all the rest of the shipyards in the world. A British Official Wireless message says that Canadian exports of war materials are increasing at an impressive rate. The total of exports for February reached 166,000,000 dollars, an increase of roughly 67,000,000 dollars over February of last year. To New Zealand, Canadian exports rose from 900,000 dollars to 1,600,000 dollars. “Guns, tanks, tractors, and carriers of all descriptions are needed in the war.” the Minister for Trade (Mr J. A. MacKinnon said to-day. “They are going to the battlet'ronts and are being accompanied by huge quantities of food."
