REPRESENTATIONS ON

ESSENTIALITY

Representations will be made soon to have the poultry industry declared essential. Since the public meeting of poultry producers held in Christchurch on Wednesday night, when a telegram was sent to the Prime Minister asking whether the poultry industry was considered essential, the chairman of the Christchurch Egg Marketing Committee (Mr T. S. Dcvd has received the following reply from the Associate Minister for National Service Uhe Hon. D. Wilson),

"The Prime Minister has referred vi,ur telegram to me. The poultry industry has not yet been declared essential under the recent amendment to the National Service Regulations, but. I am prepared to consider representations from (he industry to have that done."

For the Christchurch Egg Marketing Committee. Mr Dove has advised Mr Wilson that the New Zealand Poultry Board would meet early next, month and make representations for the industry.
