DEMAND FOR MILITARY
PURPOSES
Onlv acutely ill cases are now being admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. The decision to restrict the use of beds as a precautionary measure for defence purposes was announced vesterday by the secretary ol the North Canterbury Hospital Board (Mr A. Prentice), who added that a' present the bed situation was full. "In view of the increased demands of the military authorities for hospital beds, it will be necessary to curtail admissions to the hospital for an indefinite period,'' said Mr Prentice. "Consequently, only those patients requiring immediate treatment will be admitted."
