SALVATION ARMY CADETS

* — COMMISSIONS GRANTED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, January 14. The "Crusaders” Session of Cadets, comprising 18 young men and women who have been in training in Wellington for the last 10 months, received their commissions as Salvation Army officers at a service conducted by Commissioner J. Evan Smith in the Wellington Citadel. Several mothers represented the many who, as their sons and daughters were commissioned, were admitted to the Order of the Silver Star. Mrs Commissioner Smith presented the stars. The appointments of the new officers were as follows; Pro-Lieutenant Margaret Bateman to St. Albans; Pro-Lieutenant Jane Beavis to Eltham Boys’ Home; Pro-Lieu-tenant Bernice Fairbrother to Marton; Pro-Lieutenant Laura Dutton to Carterton; Pro-Lieutenant Marea Garguilo to Leeston; Pro-Lieutenant Grace Jackson to Winton; Pro-Lieutenant Monobel Lister to Auckland Girls’ Home; Pro-Lieutenant Agnes Morgan to Temuka; Pro-Lieutenant Victoria Phillips to the Nest, Hamilton; Pro-Lieu-tenant Jean Swenson to Karori; ProLieutenant May Varney to Raetihi; Pro-Lieutenant Irene Wakefield to Reefton; Pro-Lieutenant John Gallagher to Motueka; Pro-Lieutenant Alfred Harford to Island Bay; Pro-Lieutenant Cyril Roberts to Greymouth; Pro-Lieu-tenant Raymond Tong to Queenstown; Pro-Captain and Mrs Gordon Gray to Miramar. _______________
