VON BOCK UNDER HOUSE ARREST
FORMER COMMANDER ON MOSCOW FRONT 25 GERMAN GENERALS RESIGN STOCKHOLM, January 13. A high German military authority stated that Marshal von Bock, Com-mander-in-Chief on the Moscow front, had been placed under house arrest at his villa in a suburb cf Berlin. Marshal von Brauchitsch, the former Commander-in-Chief of the German Army, and General von Kleist, whose army was driven from Rostov, had been recalled to Berlin. Since then nothing has been heard of them. It is reliably reported from Berlin, states a message from Zurich, that 25 leading German generals, including General von Kleist, have resigned following Hitler’s dismissal of General von Brauchitsch. Beer Shortage In London. —The t bser shortage is so serious that many hotels in London are closing on one or more days a 'week. Nearly all except the luxury hotels are unable to obtain wines and the shortage of whisky is most acute—London, January 13.
