PROPOSED PARK FOR CASHMERE
Sir, —Regarding the proposed loan of £BIOO to provide a park at Cashmere, it may be information for some of the ratepayers that the land it is proposed to purchase for £5300 has a Government valuation of about £2700. ' On top of the purchase price a Public Works Department estimate is £2BOO to drain and otherwise make the area suitable for a park. Ratepayers have the opportunity to object to the proposal, to be made in writing to the Heathcote County Council by January 23. The Cashmere area may require a recreation reserve, but that can wait now till after the war. The present proposal certainly will not receive my support.—Yours, etc., A. D. SHRUBSHALL. January 12, 1942.
