TYPHUS OUTBREAK THOUGHT UNLIKELY IN N.Z.

(PA) WELLINGTON, January 13. Health Department officials stated to-day that it is very unlikely that typhus would reach New Zealand, and no special precautions are necessary. The situation here is very different from that in England, where there is dose contact with the infected Continent. The system of port inspection as carried out in New Zealand would detect any case that might conceivably be in a ship from an infected country and the utmost vigilance would be used.
