FOOD STOCKS DESTROYED

ARMY STORE BURNED IN BRISBANE THREE FIREMEN LOSE LIVES January 13, 11.30 p.m.) BRISBANE. January 13. Three firemen lost their lives and vital food stocks valued at £Bo.ooo— as the greatest store of national emergency stocks in Queensland—were destroyed by a mysterious fire at an Army warehouse in Brisbane. The police are investigating a theory of sabotage. Loud explosions are reported to have preceded the fire which gutted the building. The three firemen were apparently overcome by smoke. Hampered by heavy steel doors, the other firemen were unable to salvage a fleet of trucks and stacks of canned foodstuffs in delivery bays. The building was valued at £30,000.
