COMMUNICATION COMPANIES
—* — 300 MORE RECRUITS WANTED
VEHICLES BEING ALLOTTED
At least 300 more recruits, from any source, are now wanted for the lanes of Communication Motor Transport Companies in the city area, Nts. 23, 24, and 25.
Each of the companies will comprise 150 officers and men, including motor truck drivers, spare drivers, motorcyclists, butchers, cooks, and storemen. So far, however, only 150 men have offered.
It was stated yesterday that now that vehicles were being allotted to the companies by the District Controller (Mr H. P. Donald) it was essential that drivers should be secured for them. Of the 300 more recruits wanted,. 140 would be drivers. It is desired, however, that all recruits' should have driving experience if possible. It is also emphasised that no medical test is required for recruits, though they would have to be able to undertake all training exercises in the companies’ schedule. The recruiting depot will be at 213 Lichfield street.
