GERMAN E-BOATS ENGAGED
NAVY AND AIR FORCE IN ACTION TWO VESSELS SUNK; OTHERS DAMAGED (8.0. W.) RUGBY. November 21. A successfiil action by naval and air forces against German E-boats was announced in the following Admiralty communique: "One E-boat was sunk, and two others probably sunk and others damaged, in engagements with our naval patrols and coastal forces last Wednesday night. “Shortly before midnight an engagement took place off the East Coast, in which two E-boats were probably sunk, without damage to our forces. "In the early hours of Thursday morning one of our patrols, consisting of two light craft, encountered six Eboats. Our patrols at once engaged, closing the range to within 200 yards. This action lasted about half an hour, during which one E-boat was certainly sunk, and others hard hit and damaged. Our patrols suffered no casualties, although minor damage was suffered by these two vessels. "It was after this* engagement that fighters of the Royal Air Force located the E-boats on their way back to their base, and sank one and damaged a second." '
