TRIBUTE BY GENERAL TO FORMER MEMBER
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, November 8. The following precis of a report on the fine service of Lieutenant A. Gordon Hultquist, M.P., whose death occurred this week, was made by Captain Borman, commander of the section in which Lieutenant Hultquist served, and has been sent to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser) by Major-General B. C. Freyberg V.C., General Officer Commanding the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force:— “In Greece, and especially m Crete, in face of almost insurmountable difficulties, he showed unfailing energy in maintaining communications. This, together with his gallant behaviour on evacuation beaches, caused me to report most favourably on his conduct on my return to Egypt.” . Lieutenant Hultquist was second in charge of an infantry brigade. signalling section, and was about to take control of an artillery section, giving him individual command.
