ARMED SERVICE BOARDS

FRAUDS

(P.A.) NEW PLYMOUTH, June 11, Frauds against the Armed Service Appeal Board were alleged by Mr J. Houston, counsel for an appellant at Hawera to-day. ‘‘There are appeals coming forward where men have been wished on to farms with five minutes’ experience,” he said. ‘‘These cases, to put it bluntly, are frauds on this Court.” Mr C. H. Clinkard (the Crown representative): I don’t know whether counsel is drawing the long bow. Mr Houston; It is perfectly true. It is notorious in this district. Mr Clinkard said that persons who were aware that full details of the labour available were not being supplied by appellants should see that such cases were brought before the board, because cases adjourned sine die could be reheard.
