STEAMER EXPRESS DELAYED

WAHINE HAS ROUGH TRIP Delayed by the strong south-westerly gale which blew on Thursday night and yesterday morning, the steamer express Wahine did not berth at Lyttelton yesterday until 11 a.m. Heavy seas were encountered as soon as the vessel cleared Pencarrow Head, and continued until the Wahine ran into the shelter of Banks Peninsula. Passengers for the south were able to travel by the 12.25 p.m. ChristchurchDunedin mail train.
