WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

—* — mairehau branch At the monthly meeting of the Mairehau branch of the Womens Institute a vote of sympathy was passed with Miss Gunn in her bereavement. Mrs Strachan reported on the progress of the knitting circle. The work being done by members of the branch for the Lady Galway Gui j. d * d .u' cussed by Mrs McCree, and Mrs Ashton reported on the exchange of library books. It was .decided that members should help with the tea at the Welcome Club soon. . Votes of thanks were passed to Mesdames Judd and Baker for cleaning the hall for the flag five hundred party. Results of competitions were as follows:— Eggless cake; Mrs McGill 1, Mrs Bean and Mrs Judd (equal) 2, Mrs Collins 3. Singlet: Mrs Bean 1, Miss Emmett 2, Mrs Robertson 3. _ Hostesses were Mesdames Lennie, Ditfort, Lawson, McGill, and Rossiter. LINCOLN BRANCH Mrs J. W. Stewart presided at the monthly meeting of the Lincoln branch of the Women’s Institute. Mrs Cameron gave a talk on Burford, England. Results of the competitions were as follows:—Large bloom: Mrs Cameron 1 Miss Irene Woods 2, Mrs Templeton 3! Small bloom: Mrs Stewart 1, Mrs Templeton 2, Mrs Moreland 3. Girdle scones: Miss I. Woods 1, Mrs J. W. Stewart 2. -Teapot holder: Mrs Templeton 1, Miss Woods 2. Hostesses were Mrs A. Moreland and Miss Irene Woods.
